Bulgarian Web Awards
I was invited personally by Boril Karaivanov to speak to the Bulgarian Web Awards about the Flash Platform. Usually I'm pretty skeptical when it comes to anything related to the Bulgarian Software Industry but from time to time I like to check to what extent things have evolved. I have to say that things have changed for the better significantly.
Besides meeting Boril in person which by it self was enough there were a lot of good speakers , people that obviously know their business and have interesting stories to share.
My talk was about the NY TIMES news reader and how there RnD department along side with Adobe managed to achieve a ground braking experience that can be considered as a great lead for a subscription based model in the publishing industry.
Something that really brings value to the user and can justify a paid model.
The funniest thing was that people preferred to tweet questions even from the venue as oppose to interface with each other.
I always thought the idea of these events is to have a social interaction. At some point I thought why making a real conference when there are already ways to make an entirely online based conference.
